Mrauk U
 Sittwe was the main British garrison
after the Rakhine State became a colony
in 1824. Located on the mouth of Kaladan
River, it is an important seaport of
Myanmar. ÒPointÓ is a beach worth
visiting.
Another place like Bagan NaungU is
MraukU where you can also find a host of
ancient pagodas. But the difference is
that Bagan is lying in the dry zone of
central Myanmar while MraukU nestles in
a coastal plain touching the Bay of
Bengal. Shittoung Pagoda is one the most
staggering edifices of the ancient Royal
City that saw its kings reaching trade
and military agreements with Portuguese
and the Dutch, the European colonial
